Choose the right take-out containers: free support

As part of the  Virage Vert food sector  project, the SADC des Laurentides and the  SADC d’Antoine-Labelle are offering free support to retailers wishing to explore compostable, reusable or returnable container options.

Until February 2024, you can contact our partner in the field, Synergie Économique Laurentides (SEL), to get expert advice on how to better choose the containers used in your café, catering or restaurant operation. Participating businesses could receive a financial incentive of up to $100 for the purchase of returnable coffee cups.

Make the right choice

While some containers say they are “compostable” or “recyclable”, it is not always the case. Your SEL agent can help you determine whether the containers you are currently using are accepted by local recyclers. They can also direct you to various packaging product suppliers that meet the sorting centres’ criteria.

Cut down on packaging costs

With the rising cost of materials, transport and supply issues, the use of reusable containers is beneficial, both for your bottom line and for the environment. There are several ways to set up a reusable container system, depending on your company’s needs.

A simple gesture is all it takes to encourage your customers to bring their own cup or container. Many businesses in the region have received the “As-tu ta tasse? (Have you got your cup?)” posters and stickers handed out by the SEL agent when visiting local businesses. If you’d like to find out more about different ways available to you to help reduce your costs, or if you’d like to receive the “As-tu ta tasse?” promotional tools, please contact us.
